Jazierce Travertines

Exceptional travertine terrace.

Jazierské travertines were declared a natural landmark in 1952. It is a rare geomorphological form of travertine terrace with valued evidences of development of living nature in the Quaternary last period. Terrace lies at the entrance to the Hluboká valley above Ružomberok's part Biely Potok. The brook was immersed in a limestone subsoil after about 250 meters, creating a distinctive travertine terrace with rare species of flora.
